I worked on a group project for the University of Tennessee's Speech Pathology and Audiology Department to create a video that would raise tinnitus awareness among college students. This was a semester long project that involved meeting with professionals from the Speech Pathology and Audiology department to learn more about tinnitus and its growing presence among younger generations. Our video won first place in Eureca, an exhibit for undergraduate research and creative achievements at the University of Tennessee. My group consisted of fellow classmates Henry Burgin, Alayna Davis, and Cole Field.
According to the mayo clinic, tinnitus is "the perception of noise or ringing in the ears. A common problem, tinnitus affects about 15 to 20 percent of people. Tinnitus isn't a condition itself — it's a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, ear injury or a circulatory system disorder."
The goal of our video was to encourage students to "wear their protection." Meaning that we wanted to normalize wearing ear plugs to events such as loud concerts among a young audience.

We drew our inspiration from the Arctic Monkeys "Do I wanna know?" video. We wanted to create more of a conceptual video and to emulate a feeling the viewer could dive into versus a literal depiction of what having tinnitus would be like.
